Kim Mills is the Founder and Director of Design for The Pollen Mill, a bespoke floral design studio based in Northern California. Her affinity for plants began in early childhood when instead of catching a ball in the outfield, she could be found picking daisies and arranging fairy crowns about the lawn. Kim's love for plants lead her to a degree in Environmental Studies and Masters degree in Science Education. She has traveled worldwide to study flora and fauna as a forever learner and constantly seeking inspiration for her creations.
Kim approaches floral design with a focus on earthy shapes and textures that create movement within arrangements. No one of The Pollen Mill designs are like the next.
Kim & her team take pride in utilizing green-thinking practices throughout the business. They source seasonal, locally grown blooms whenever possible. Kim works closely with local farmers to advise on upcoming floral tends. Together, they continue to push the envelope with planting & offering unique blooms & color variations.
The Pollen Mill designs are always 100% free of Floral Foam and Leaf Shine which contain toxins known to cause harm to health and the environment. The team only uses fully biodegradable sterilizing products and all grey water is recycled for gardening purposes. All packaging and stationary are produced on recycled materials. As well, The Pollen Mill donates unused flowers to local hospitals, assisted living locations, health treatment facilities, public schools, and libraries.
The Pollen Mill specialties include custom floral design and staging for special occasions such as weddings, corporate events, charity functions, baby showers, anniversaries, birthdays and holidays. In addition, they design for restaurant & business displays, photography staging, as well as editorial shoots.
In Kim's spare time she loves to travel, chat, clean, and write. She has written content for online wedding publications and local newspapers. Kim continues to travel to explore new places and will happily take an adventure to design your special event.
